If there’s an empty space on your Christmas tree then a unique ornament from Turlock Fire Incorporated might just be the thing to fill it.

Turlock Fire Incorporated has a collection of four ornaments created over the past years that represent the history of the fire department through various time periods. The ornaments feature a 1917 Model T, a 1923 American La France Fire Engine, a 1955 American La France ("Santa Engine") and a 1927 American La France Ladder Truck.

Turlock Fire Incorporated is a non- profit organization that is composed of past and present Turlock Fire Department personnel. It is the social group that owns and maintains the antique fire equipment and supports various community charities, events or teams through donations of time or money. The funds raised from the ornament sales go to support these efforts, particularly for the periodic maintenance and servicing of the antique fire engines that are used in parades and special events, like the Santa Engine that visits various neighborhoods around Turlock.

The ornaments were first created about 10 years ago by Turlock Fire Capt. Brian White, with the help of Nations Treasures.

“I originally approached them [Turlock Fire Incorporated] with the idea of creating ornaments that would feature our antique fire engines, our old fire museum and the various fire stations to try and capture the history of the Turlock Fire Department while promoting a nice holiday spirit via the ornaments,” White said.

“Once I had their approval, I began taking the photos of our antique fire engines and the buildings, discussing the design with the ornament manufacturer design crew and they would then produce a conceptual design for me to review and revise,” White said.

The ornaments were created one style at a time, over a four-year time period and were sold locally by word of mouth by the Turlock Fire Incorporated members and for a time at the Turlock Historical Museum downtown.

The ornaments can be purchased for $5 each or the set of four ornament styles for $15. They are being sold at the Turlock Public Safety Facility located at 244 N. Broadway Street, 2nd floor in the Fire Administration and at the Turlock Fire Station #31 located at 540 E. Marshall Street. The ornaments can be purchased with cash or checks made out to Turlock Fire Incorporated.
