Mother Nature showed her American spirit Saturday, allowing a cool breeze to blow through Turlock making the Downtown Fourth of July Parade a pleasant experience for participants and spectators alike.
The 65 entrants into this year’s parade sauntered down Main Street displaying their red, white and blue pride. The fanfare began with the presenting of colors, followed by the 2009 parade marshall, Tony Cabral. Cabral led a menagerie through downtown including antique and modern firetrucks; trailers carrying senior citizens and church choirs; dancers young and old; a group of Medieval swordsmen and women in the midst of battle; and cars — every auto enthusiasts dream made reality in the line of antique and modern modified beauties cruising down Main Street.
The 2009 Downtown 4th of July Parade winners are: Daisy Scout Troop #3959 for Best Use of Red, White and Blue; Cub Scout Pack #451 for Most Creative; Rolling H Carriage Company’s Cinderella Carriage for Best Equestrian; and Westside Ministries for Best Neighborhood Group.
