California State Parks is inviting the public to help create the vision and plan for Dos Rios, California’s newest State Park. Dos Rios opened in June 2024 with two trails and expanded trail access on the entire property in May 2025. The next step in developing the park is to hear from the community about their vision for the park.
Members of the public are invited for a special Open House at Dos Rios from 10 a.m. to noon today. State Parks staff will be giving optional site tours to help spark the vision for what the park could become. Tours are offered every half hour from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
There will also be a virtual visioning workshop held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 15. Visit https://dosriosvirtualworkshop.eventbrite.com to RSVP and receive the meeting link for this event.
Dos Rios has long been envisioned as a park to be built for the community, by the community.
“Modesto is located in the heart of California and the effort the community put in to turn Dos Rios into a reality shows our heart,” said Modesto Mayor Sue Zwahlen. “We’re so proud to have California’s newest state park in our backyard because Dos Rios showcases Modesto’s beauty, tranquil rivers, lush vegetation, and a great place to enjoy the day with family and friends.”
