Recalls out for candy, peanut butter and lettuce

The California Department of Public Health has recently issued two separate consumer warnings for several food products and another company has issued a voluntary recall.
The warnings are for certain candies imported from India, peanut butter, and romaine lettuce.
The public health department issued the warnings about the candies after testing found unacceptable levels of lead. The candies are: Jyoti Indian Sweets Bonbons Indiens Sugar Rewdi, Hans Sugar Rewari, Punjab Bazaar Rewari Gur Jaggery, and Punjab Bazaar Sweet Rewdi
Consumers in possession of any of these candies should discard them immediately.
The CDPH is warning people to not eat bagged salad products from Ready Pac Food Inc. because of romaine lettuce possibly contaminated with E coli O157:H7. No illnesses have been associated with the recalled product. The voluntarily recalled romaine lettuce is packaged in 9 oz., 9.25 oz., 10 oz., 10.25 oz., and 16 oz. bags under the Ready Pac, Trader Joe's, Safeway and Dining In Classic labels. Products have a Use by Date of Nov. 18.
The recall was issued based on a positive finding of E.coli O157:H7 from a random surveillance sample of bagged lettuce collected and analyzed by the United States Department of Agriculture. The recalled romaine products were distributed to retail locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Oregon, Texas and Washington.
Consumers should discard the product or return them to the place of purchase.
The warning for peanut butter is for the J.M. Smucker Company and is a voluntary limited recall. The recall is for two specific Best-If-Used-By dates of 16 oz. Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter Chunky because it may be contaminated with salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
The affected product, which is packaged in 16 oz. jars, is as follows:
• UPC: 5150001701 (located on the side of the jar's label below the bar code)
• Production Codes: 1307004 and 1308004
• Best-If-Used-By dates: Aug. 3, 2012 and Aug. 4, 2012
• Chunky product only (not creamy)
Impacted product would have been purchased between Nov. 8 - 17.
No other products of The J.M. Smucker Company are affected by this recall.
No illnesses related to this issue have been reported and the product is being recalled out of an abundance of caution for consumer safety.
Consumers who have purchased Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter Chunky with the above Production Code and Best-If-Used-By dates are urged to discard the product immediately and call the company at 1-888-550-9555 for a replacement coupon.
