The American Red Cross Gold Country Region seeks heroes of Stanislaus County to be honored at a special 100 Years of Heroes recognition event. The event will take place July 12, at the Double Tree by Hilton in Modesto.

Candidates for nomination can be any person who lives or works in Stanislaus County and who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to exhibit a true act of selflessness. The categories for nomination are: Good Samaritan (An individual who provided extraordinary or significant services in response to an emergency or disaster), Military (An active duty or veteran member of the armed forces who performed an act of heroism), and Hero of the Year (An individual whose actions demonstrate a passionate commitment to saving lives and/or promotion the health and well-being of others).

“For one hundred years, American Red Cross volunteers in Stanislaus County have rolled up their sleeves and opened their hearts to prevent, prepare for, and respond to disasters big and small,” said Gary Strong, Red Cross Gold Country CEO. “Our One Hundred Years of Heroes event is an opportunity to honor members of the community who embody the spirit of the Red Cross.”

The deadline to submit nominations is May 30. Nomination forms can be found at www.redcross.org/GoldCountry, by clicking on “2017 Heroes Awards.” Nominations can also be made directly from the website.
