The combined Turlock-Hilmar Relay for Life event held Saturday at the Dutcher Middle School track drew over 400 participants and raised approximately $114,450 for the American Cancer Society.

 

The top fundraising teams were: Turlock High School ($28,302), Hilmar Cheese Company ($18,464) and Insure-A-Cure, aka Winton, Ireland, Strom and Green ($13,636). The top individual fundraisers were Beverly Perry with team Fighting for a Cure ($4,660), Lena Dickinson with team Insure-A-Cure ($1,993), Lorii Anderson with team Hakuna Ma Tatas ($1,895), Maddie Bettencourt with team Turlock High School ($1,600) and Maya Luis with team Turlock High School ($1,485).

A recurring theme at the opening night of the 2025 Stanislaus County Fair in Turlock — the 107th edition of the annual event — was the heat. Sure, it's not 108 degrees like last year, but 102 on Friday afternoon wasn't too far off.
