Anyone looking for a restaurant with a Vegas-like feel but aren’t looking to take a road trip, will find their cravings met at Jams @ 209 Sports Bar and Grill.

“We had always talked about bringing a touch of Vegas to Turlock,” said owner Peggy Sahota, who opened the restaurant in December along with her husband Muki and their two friends, Marla and Dave Sousa. “You don’t always have to go to the big cities to experience something like what we have.”

The restaurant is a sports lover’s dream: it boasts 14 televisions, 10 of which play whatever sporting events are happening that day. The other four screens play a mix of over 20,000 music videos from different genres and eras. The completely remodeled interior gives the bar and grill a relaxed, modern feel.

“It’s a very comfortable atmosphere when you walk through the door,” said Sahota.

As a mother to an 8-year-old, Sahota wanted to open a place where the Turlock community could go to watch sports in a family-friendly environment, as well as somewhere that college students would feel welcomed. This led her to create the menu’s most popular item, the Warrior Burger — a Certified Angus beef patty topped with pepper jack cheese, bacon, fresh jalapeños, lettuce, tomato and grilled onions encased in a toasted bun.

“Everybody really loves our burgers, but especially that burger,” said Sahota. “It’s spicy but they buy it.”

Other items on the menu include a wide variety of sandwiches, salads, wraps and appetizers. Jams’ “Bud and a Burger” deal during the month of May gives customers a beer and burger of their choice for $12, and their happy hour is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the week and offers well drinks for $3.

Though the restaurant celebrated its grand opening in December, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on May 12
