Cathie and Joe Bernardi of the Kayla Bernardi Bee Positive Foundation presented the Turlock High School Relay for Life Club with a check for $2,000 Friday to help with the group’s efforts to raise money for cancer research. The 5th annual Bee Positive Fun Run/Walk was held Jan. 25 in honor of the Bernardis’ daughter and THS grad Kayla, who passed away after her battle with leukemia in 2015. The event raised $25,000 and will also provide funds for Jessica’s House, the Stanislaus State Athletics Department’s Make a Wish program, the THS Software Club, THS and Denair High School Sober Grad Nights, the DHS Coyotes Cup of Kindness coffee cart and $9,000 worth of scholarships, among other causes.
