With initial support and endorsement from the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors and several local corporations, Stanislaus Community Foundation announced the next phase of Stanislaus 2030: a three-year incubation of a public-private partnership focused on key strategies in the Stanislaus 2030 Investment Blueprint.

The Stanislaus 2030 team, supported by Stanislaus Community Foundation and led by newly named Executive Director Amanda Hughes, will advance innovative strategies to expand childcare, bolster talent development and support small businesses.

Stanislaus 2030 started in 2021 as an ambitious multi-sector initiative co-led by local business, higher education and government partners alongside labor and community-based organizations to create and deliver a joint strategy and investment plan in 2022.

The next phase of Stanislaus 2030 establishes a governance structure to drive distributed implementation of the investment blueprint strategies of prioritized strategies and initiate pilot programs. SCF will serve as an incubator for the newly created Stanislaus 2030 team, providing financial and administrative backbone support for the public-private partnership over the next three years. Stanislaus 2030 will be governed by an independent advisory committee.

“To build a resilient and inclusive economy with more quality jobs, we must quickly move from strategy development to implementation,” said Marian Kaanon, President and CEO of Stanislaus Community Foundation. “The new Stanislaus 2030 team will work with local partners to develop and scale promising programs. I know this new team will deliver meaningful outcomes thanks to the leadership of Amanda Hughes, who has done similar work during her time with Stanislaus Community Foundation.”

Hughes, Chief Strategy Officer for Stanislaus Community Foundation, will step down from her current role to become the Executive Director of the new Stanislaus 2030 team. In her 10 years at SCF, she educated and connected local donors to the nonprofit sector and managed grantmaking and community leadership activities on behalf of the foundation. She worked to build the foundation’s knowledge of community issues, which served to assess local needs, inform innovative solutions and lead to impactful investment. Her deep connections within the community make her uniquely qualified to fill the Executive Director role with Stanislaus 2030.

“Collective action of this magnitude requires a neutral convener to provide leadership, hold partners accountable to the shared vision, and align resources around strategies that demonstrate results,” said Hughes.  “This is challenging work, and I look forward to building off the momentum of this past year’s work as we move Stanislaus 2030 into the next phase of implementation.”
