The second annual Turlock High Alumni Baseball game was held on Saturday, complete with a homerun derby and game between the Mendonca Maulers and Bettencourt Dreamers. In addition to the fun, there was also a touching moment as recently graduated Tyler Murphy threw out the first pitch.

A total of $2,100 was raised for the THS Baseball Scholarship fund. Next year’s game has already been scheduled and will be held on Oct. 18, 2014.

Community members hope to rename baseball field after beloved Little League coach

A committee has been appointed to look into renaming the Little League baseball field on the campus of Julien Elementary after longtime coach Paul Cooper, who passed away on May 3 (Photo contributed).
A staple in the local Little League scene who recently passed away is the subject of a community effort to rename an iconic Turlock baseball field.
