TID to discuss electric service rates

New rate designs will highlight the Turlock Irrigation District Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday morning, as the district prepares for a public hearing on the matter in the coming months.

According to TID staff, the district has not had an electric service schedule rate hearing since November 2011. Since then, changes to state laws and a fluctuating economy have resulted in certain rate schedule special conditions. Over the last two years, new rate design opportunities have emerged that the district believes could benefit electric service customers.

On Tuesday, the Board of Directors will vote on a motion scheduling a rate hearing for April 8 to discuss both changes to certain special conditions, as well as a proposal of two experimental rate programs for electric services. The proposed rate issues will not increase rates for any customer.

The Board will not be taking any action to implement a new rate design, but instead set a hearing date to allow public input on any of the proposed revisions to the electric service rate schedules.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the board will receive a Home Energy Analysis Report alongside a report from the Power Supply Administration.

The TID Board of Directors meeting will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the TID Main Office Building, located at 333 E. Canal Dr.
