The Turlock Irrigation District placed second in class for safety at the 2010 Northwest Public Power Association’s Engineering & Operations Conference in Reno, Nev. on April 7.
Safety award winners were selected based on a review of each utility’s number of recordable injury/illness cases in 2010, and lost work days as a result of those cases. Throughout the Northwest Public Power Association, utilities on average maintained or improved their safety records, year-over-year. Also, more utilities competed in the annual safety contest than in 2009.
TID, competing in the 300,001-1,000,000 hours of exposure category, finished second to the Chugach Electric Association.
NWPPA represents and serves over 150 customer-owned, locally controlled utilities in the Western U.S. and Canada. The association claims an additional 280 associate members.
