A Planada man was killed when a passenger train collided with his truck Sunday afternoon in Merced County.
The name of the man has not been released, pending family notification. He was 41-years-old.
None of the train's crew or 128 passengers were injured in the collision.
The man's 2002 Dodge Ram pickup was hit on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, between Arboleda Drive and Plainsburg Road, south of Highway 140.
The crossing is on private land and does not utilize crossing arms.
The California Highway Patrol report indicated the force of the impact tore the cab away from the truck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The train's locomotive had moderate front-end damage and passengers were transferred to another train when they reached Merced after a three-hour delay.
The investigation into the collision is ongoing.
