Tune In and Tune Up set for Saturday

The San Joaquin Valley Air District is holding a Tune In and Tune Up event from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds. The first 525 drivers who come to the fairgrounds will receive free emissions tests. If the car doesn’t pass the test, the owners receive a $500 voucher for smog repairs at a participating STAR certified smog shop.

Attendees can expect to wait two hours or more to have their car screened.  To qualify for the program, individuals must be a resident of the San Joaquin Valley and owned their car for at least six months. This event only provides emissions screenings. No smog certificates will be issued. Free food and drinks will be available starting at 8 a.m. and while supplies last.

More than 15,000 cars have been repaired to state smog standards by Valley Clean Air Now’s Tune In & Tune Up program since 2003. Tune In & Tune Up has been shown to be among the most cost-effective methods to reduce vehicle emissions attempted to date in California.
