TURLOCK KIWANIANS GIVE BACK

The Kiwanis Club of Greater Turlock got into the Christmas spirit early this year, helping students from Chatom Elementary School, Denair Elementary School and Osborn Two-Way Immersion Academy make sure they have enough clothes to keep warm this winter. After fundraising all year, the club was able to provide anywhere from $150 to $200 worth each of Kohl’s jackets, pants, shirts and more to 51 students — a tradition that’s lasted for the past 25 years, Kiwanis member and organizer Mary Ann Urrutia said.

The annual event has grown to include schools from outside of Turlock over the past five years, Urrutia said, and this year, each child chosen will also receive a holiday meal, complete with a turkey, purchased from Safeway which their parents can pick up before the holidays.
