Turlock man killed in two vehicle crash on South Washington Road

TURLOCK — A 67‑year‑old Turlock man was killed Saturday afternoon in a two‑vehicle collision in the 1300 block of South Washington Road, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Officers and Turlock Fire Department personnel responded at about 3:45 p.m. March 7 and found both vehicles with significant damage. One of the drivers, identified as Jose Blancas of Turlock, was pinned inside his vehicle. Fire crews performed an extrication, but despite lifesaving efforts, Blancas died at the scene.

The occupants of the second vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. One person suffered a minor injury and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Because of the severity of the crash, the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and has taken over the investigation. Police said no additional details are being released at this time.
