Turlock resident Cipriana Carrasco celebrated her 100th birthday on Wednesday at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by friends, family and special guest Mayor Gary Soiseth, who presented her with a certificate congratulating her on the centennial celebration. According to Carrasco’s daughter Sophe De La Torre, a diet consisting of natural foods grown in her own backyard has contributed to Carrasco’s long, happy life. After settling down in Delhi in the 1950s, Carrasco made the area her home and recently relocated to Turlock about six years ago.

“She’s always enjoyed life,” De La Torre said. “How many people do you get to know who turn 100?”
