All Turlock Fire units responded to the report of a working commercial structure fire at approximately 1:08 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of S. Walnut. First arriving units found heavy smoke coming from the roll up doors of a large metal building at Turlock Scavenger in the transfer station.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control within two hours. With MST resources there was a total of six engines, two quints, two battalion chiefs, Medic 1, AMR, Turlock Police officer and the Fire Investigation Unit that responded to the fire. Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time working with Turlock Scavenger to remove the trash and extinguish it.

The Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit was dispatched to handle the fire investigation.
