A student hit by a vehicle outside Turlock Junior High School Friday afternoon sustained a serious though non-life threatening injury and is said to be in stable condition.

The male student was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on W. Christoffersen Parkway around 3 p.m. Friday.

The vehicle was traveling at an estimated speed of 25 miles per hour when the male student ran out into the road, according to the Turlock Police Department.

“The driver applied his brakes but was unable to avoid the collision,” said Turlock Police spokesperson Sgt. Stephen Webb.

The student was not using the crosswalk at the time of the collision, according to the police report.

The student was taken by Mediflight to an out of area hospital for treatment.

The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.
