A 2-year-old girl sleeping underneath a pile of blankets was run over Saturday afternoon at the Modesto Reservoir by a woman backing her vehicle up.

The toddler sustained serious injuries but is expected to make a full recovery, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP identified the child as Rayan Figueroa of Turlock.

The CHP said Figueroa was asleep under the blankets when the front tire of a 2006 Honda drove over her. The blankets were near the vehicle.

The Honda, driven by 26-year-old Maya Badajos of Ceres, was traveling at a slow speed at the time, the CHP reported.

The toddler was transported by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center.

No citations were issued. Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the accident.
