The breezes that have kept the temperatures in the area in the pleasant range have also contributed to two fires flaring up alongside Highway 99 in Turlock.

Neither of the fires caused any injuries or property damage.

The first fire was sparked along the northbound lanes of the freeway between Taylor Road and Monte Vista Avenue Monday afternoon.

It’s unknown what started the fire, but it burned so fast through the dry field that it left a realty sign in the middle of the field unscathed.

Fire fighters from Turlock and Keyes kept the flames from spreading to the nearby Best Western Hotel on Taylor Road.

The second fire was located near Golf Link Road and the southbound lanes of the highway. It broke out around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire charred several acres but was kept from spreading to two nearby farmhouses.

The cause of the second fire is also undetermined at this point.
