Local choirs and non-profits are once again joining forces later this month to collect “a ton of food and toys” for community members in need.
The annual Better Together benefit concert will take place on Nov. 14 from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Turlock at 4200 Geer Rd.
The list of this year’s participating choirs, as well as their conductors, include: Pitman High School’s combined choirs (Yohan Partan), Turlock Community Gospel Choir (Cyrus Elias), Hughson High School’s Sound investment (Katye Maki), Hickman Honor Choir (Eric Anderson) and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Turlock Stake Choir (Marie Hyer).
As it has been for every year, there is no monetary fee for admission, instead guests can get in the venue by making food and toy donations.
The local groups benefiting from this year’s food donations are Turlock Together and the Hughson United Samaritans. Attendees are encouraged to check expiration dates on cans to make sure the food is not out of date so that it can still be used.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army Turlock Corps will be receiving the toy donations, with preferred items being arts and craft kits, board games, sports balls and baby toys for children under the age of one.
The community choir concert will take place at 6:30 p.m. Following the concert there will be a reception with free refreshments, where guests can mingle with the musicians and each other.
