Off to see the Wizard

The Denair Gaslight Community Conservatory’s Starmites Program is bringing the classic story of “The Wizard of Oz” to their stage.

Paulette Applegate, a board member at the theatre, said “The Wizard of Oz” is the most ambitious production the Starmites have ever staged. The show features a cast of 60 actors, ranging in age from 3 years to 17 years.

It will also feature special effects for the tornado, the Wizard, the balloon flight, and the witch melting.

The show is running through Sunday. Shows are at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.Tickets are $5 at the Gaslight Box Office at 664-9514 or denairgaslight@aol.com or $5.50 if purchased through ticketleap.com.

The theatre is at 3908 N. Gratton Rd.

MODESTO, CA — The Gallo Center for the Arts announced its 2025/26 season, marking the 18th anniversary of the downtown Modesto performing arts center, recently named a Top 10 venue globally by Pollstar. Advance ticket sales to Gallo Center donors are already underway. Tickets go on sale to the public on June 2.
