“Thoroughly Modern Millie,” the musical tale of plucky Millie Dillmount’s modern take on love, is being performed by the Turlock Youth Performing Arts troupe on Saturday and Sunday.

It’s 1922 and Millie, a Kansas native, is newly arrived in New York with big plans on landing herself a well-heeled husband. Millie’s delighted with the flapper lifestyle, but it doesn’t take long for trouble to find her and her marriage plans upended by a trifling matter of love.

"I think it's an incredible show,” said Eva Cluff, who is playing Millie in the TYPA show. “It's so fun and the music is so lively and exciting. It's really funny and a pleasure to be in. It's a really colorful show and it's funny and the songs are really big and the dancing is flashy so I think it's going to be really enjoyable to watch."

The musical features such songs as “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Not for the Life of Me,” and “How the Other Half Lives.”

The TYPA production features a cast of more the 30 area teenagers.

Remaining shows are set for 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Turlock Community Theater at 1574 E. Canal Dr. Tickets are $10 at the door.
