Agnes Mary (Furtado) Ramos was a very healthy 91 years of age, when she succumbed to a brief illness and passed away at Emanuel Medical Center.
Agnes was born in Hilmar to Manuel and Lena Furtado. She was active in many organizations in Hilmar, such as the Hilmar Alter Society; the Hilmar Y.L.I Young Ladies Institute, of which she was a charter member; S.E.S.; U.P.E.C.; the Turlock Horsemen’s Club, of which she was a long-time member; and the Woman’s Double D Club. Agnes loved to travel in her RV and belonged to the West Stan Wheelers. She and her husband traveled the United States, covering every state except Maine and Hawaii. She also loved to crochet and knit. She was well known for the Afghans that she created and donated to different charity raffles.
Agnes is survived by her children, Alice (Silva) Ramos of Turlock and Barton F. Ramos of Turlock; sister, Ida Ramos of Turlock; nine grand children; 16 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild, which marked five generations. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank (Bud) Ramos; daughter, Vermalee (Ramos) Schou; sister, Mary Logen; and brother, Joe Ramos.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 15 at Allen Mortuary with the Rosary to begin at 6 p.m. A mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hilmar, with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
