Long time Modesto resident, Albert Neewya Badal, passed away Sunday, January 19, at the age of 84.
He was born November 9, 1929 to William Neewya and Eva Michael Badal in Flint, Michigan. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois, and then California, where Albert graduated from Modesto Junior College with an Associates of Arts Degree. In 1952, he married the love of his life, Tamara Benjamin Badal at Sacred Heart Church, in Turlock. Together they raised their two children, William and Linda. Albert worked for 31 years at the Stanislaus County Hospital, an active member of the Stanislaus County Board of Supervisors, and as a supervisor in the Juvenile Hall Facility, finally retiring in March of 1986. He was an avid member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph’s Church, in Modesto, managing and counting the weekly church offerings.
Albert enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, house-boating, camping, trips to the Reno/Tahoe area. He was also a Wall Street ticker enthusiast and investor.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, William and Eva Badal, his beloved wife of 42 years, Tamara Benjamin Badal (d. 1994), his brothers, John and William Badal Jr., nephew, Robert Lazar, cousins, Dan, Nick, and Bill Karam, and Lillian Jacob, and in-laws, Lyda Malek-Yonan, and Lydia Badal.
He is survived by his children, William Albert Badal and Linda Madeline Badal, grandchildren Danielle Badal Scott, Alexa and Micaela Lopez, nieces and nephews, Robert and David Badal, June & Jennifer Badal, Rosie and Monica Malek –Yonan, Ritchie, Donald, John, Mary, and Madlin Lazar, cousins, Mariann Karam Smith, Steve Karam, Ray Stocker, Shirley Stocker-Chandler, Evelynand Jim Readyhough, in-laws, Julia Lazar, George Malek-Yonan, and beloved friends, Evelyn Wagenman, Cindy DeReiux, and the Bethel Retirement Community.
