Alberta Silva was born at home in Turlock on Sept. 25, 1922 to parents John and Mary Goularte.  She passed away peacefully on March 15, 2011 at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by love and prayer.

Alberta was a member of The Church of the Resurrection where her generosity and never ending prayer earned her the nickname “Mother Superior.”  She was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge No. 83 and a member of the Supreme Councils of S.E.S. and U.P.P.E.C. 

She is survived by her children Ronald (Melody) Mendoza of Modesto, Betty (Bill) Barry of Turlock, and Patricia (Ed) Thompson of Idaho Falls; her grandchildren Julie (David) Tremayne, Stephen Carter, and Lisa Mendoza; and her great-grandchildren Tess and Abby Tremayne and Sierra and Daelyn Carter.  She will also be missed by her devoted caregivers Paulina Serpa, Delphina Page, and Fatima Rosa, and her favorite puppies Buddy Lee and Bindi Lou.

She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Silva, her parents, and her sister Natalie Turner. 

Alberta’s family would like to thank Father Patrick Flood, Dr. Ronald Arakelian, and the caring staff at TNRC for treating her as if she was their own grandmother.

 Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Allen Mortuary in Turlock followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23 at Allen Mortuary, with burial to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
