Arlene Marie Lindskoog
May 1919 March 2011
Lindskoog A pic

Arlene Marie Johnson Lindskoog was born in May 1919 to Arthur and Lillie (Gustafson) Johnson in Albert City, Iowa and went to be with her Lord on March 15, 2011 at Emanuel Medical Center. Growing up on a farm in those years meant everyone was expected to share with the variety of jobs to be done, and Arlene was part of the team. She received her education in the local schools, graduating from Albert City High School in 1936. Right after Christmas in 1936, she and her sister Leora traveled to Turlock with the Emil Wenell family. They were invited to the Enoch Lindskoog home as they were friends of Arlene’s parents in Iowa. There she met Wallace Lindskoog. After a few weeks visiting with other relatives in Turlock and Oakland, she and her sister returned to Iowa.

Early in 1937, she returned to Turlock where she worked briefly as a live-in housekeeper for a few families. She and Wallace Lindskoog were married in December 1939 in the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City, Iowa. They returned to Turlock where Wallace owned the Arlinda Dairy and raised turkeys. Five years later they expanded into the turkey hatchery business.
Wallace served on the boards of the Covenant denomination and North Park College, and together they made many trips to headquarters in Chicago. They also traveled to several countries over the years. Arlene was an active member of the Beulah Covenant Church (now Turlock Covenant). In later years, the two of them spent many winters in Florida and Southern California, and 10 years ago they moved into Covenant Village in Turlock.

Arlene is survived by children, Stanley (Barbara) Lindskoog of Murphys, Ruth (Dick) Halverstadt of LaCanada, Wade Lindskoog of Kamiah, Idaho and Mark Lindskoog of Turlock; grandchildren, Wendelin, Joan, Jee-in, Han-Sol, Lori, Christi, Monica and Gena; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Alveda Johnson and Geneva (Del) Ahlberg, both of Turlock; sisters-in-law, Elaine Johnson of Turlock and Florence Johnson of Albert City, Iowa; and brother-in-law, John Lindskoog and sister-in-law, Fern Swanson, both of Turlock. Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace; parents, Arthur and Lillie Johnson; sister, Leora Johnson; and brothers, Reuben and Eldon Johnson. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
