Bill Katakis, 80, of Turlock, passed away on Dec. 13. Trisagion services will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at Salas Brothers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Modesto.
Bill was born in Reliance, Wyo. to Spiro and Mary Katakis. He moved to Turlock as a child and graduated from Turlock High School. Bill worked as a shop foreman at Buik Garage and continued working there until he opened his own business, Turlock Auto Wreckers, in 1995. He operated the business until he retired in 2002. Bill married Hope Grillos in 1959 in Rock Springs, Wyo. They had three sons, William, Ronald, and Andrew.
Bill is survived by his wife, Hope Katakis of Turlock; sons, William Katakis of Alamo, Ronald Katakis of Turlock, and Andrew Katakis (Melissa) of Modesto; and sister, Argy Katakis of Turlock. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial donations can be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 313 Tokay Ave., Modesto, CA 95350 to benefit the Georgia Grillos Scholarship Fund.
