Carmen Harris passed away and went home to be with the Lord on July 15. She was born in Turlock, and throughout her life she continuously resided in the Turlock area blessing the lives of all she knew for all her 78 years. After graduating Turlock High School in 1950, Carmen attended Modesto Junior College and worked as a clerk for Stanislaus County Welfare Department and Christoffersen Poultry / Valchris before marrying Monty Harris and raising turkeys near Hilmar. She then resided for over 50 years near Denair where she raised sheep.  She was a member of Bethel Temple / Harvest Christian Center serving as Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. She was also a Missionette leader, choir, orchestra, and women’s ministries member.  Her community service included Denair Elementary School Service Club and 4-H leader.
She is survived by her children, Danette (Floyd) Oydegaard, Marcus (Cathy) Harris, and Bryant Harris; her siblings, Delores Sondeno, Norma Green, and Larry (Judy) Christoffersen; daughter-in-law, Marsha Harris; Nicole Pence; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Holger and Elsie Christoffersen; her twin sister, Carol June; and her husband, Monty Lee Harris.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21 at Turlock Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., in Turlock. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 22, also at Turlock Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
