Cliff McBeath, 88, of Turlock, passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife, Lady, on Tuesday, Feb. 16. He was born in Humboldt, Kansas to James and Elsie McBeath. He lived most of his adult life in California. He lived and worked in San Bernardino for years as a carpenter. Cliff retired in 1982, after working as the head of maintenance for the California State Dept of Agriculture at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds for 27 years. He was married to Esther Marion Markusen for 53 years before she passed away in January 1999. He married Lady Laudine Petersen at the First Baptist Church of Turlock in May 2000. He was a kind, caring man who found rest in the arms of God after many years of dedicated service to a variety of organizations.
Cliff served in the Army during World War II as a Carpentry Instructor which included teaching bridge building. He was discharged in October 1946 as a Tech Sergeant 4th Grade. Cliff was a Lifetime member and Post Commander of the American Legion, Past Chef de Gar of the 40 and 8, Past President and Lifetime Member of the Denair Lions Club, Life Member of the D.A.R., a member of the Board of Directors of the Turlock Salvation Armya, member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Member of the California State Retirees Assoc., Historical Society, and SIRS (Sons In Retirement).
Cliff is survived by his wife, Lady McBeath; daughters, Ann Marie Synstad and Kathy Marion (John) Bell, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-son, Keith (Donna) Petersen of Stockton; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and brother, Jim McBeath of Louisville, Ohio.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21 at Allen Mortuary. Graveside committal will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 22 at Turlock Memorial Park, followed by a Celebration of Life at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 3:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be considered for the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Turlock or the Turlock Salvation Army.
