Dana was born and raised in Haskell, Texas.  She helped run a gas station with her sisters and cousin during World War II.  In 1944 she met and married Donald F. Gilbertson and later they adopted their son David Gilbertson.  Don served in the US Navy and together they were stationed at various locations including Hawaii, Philippine Islands and San Diego.  Dana enjoyed bowling as a family during their time in the service and was an excellent baker.  After retirement Dana and Don settled in Turlock.  She was a devoted member of Berkeley Avenue Baptist Church in Turlock.

She is survived by her grandchildren Bonnie Markgraf and Blythe Gilbertson and numerous nieces and nephews.  Dana was preceded in death by her husband Don Gilbertson; son David Paul Gilbertson; siblings Horace Atchison, Gerald Atchison, Hulen Atchison, Denton Atchison, Rex Atchison, Alice Holmgren and Hazel Cook; granddaughter Betsy Gilbertson; grandson William; and parents William and Susie Atchison.

Graveside service will be held at Turlock Memorial Park on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at 1:00p.m.
