Turlock

David Silva, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at home on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011 in Turlock after an extended illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Mary Silva; sisters Elsie Vieira and Josephine Mutoza; brothers Willie Silva, Tony Silva, Joe Silva, Manuel Silva and Frank Silva.  He leaves behind his beloved wife Diane of 50 ½ years; three sons:  Ron  (Raynell) Silva of Hilmar, Kevin (Greg) Silva of Modesto and Greg (Diana) Silva of Turlock;  granddaughters Tiffany Joseph and Jessica Joseph of Hilmar; and grandsons Nickolas and Preston Silva of Modesto.
He loved farming and worked for Turlock Scavenger for 40 years.  He was a member of the Valley Headers Car Club, drag-raced his ’57 Chevy at the Ballico Drag Strip, did stock tractor pulling in the Turlock area, and was a member of the Young Men’s Institute and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Delta Humane Society & SPCA (a no kill shelter) at PO Box 30908, Stockton CA 95213, or to Turlock Animal Services at 801 S. Walnut Ave., Turlock CA 95380, or Hospice of Emanuel.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7th, beginning at 12 pm, with the rosary to follow at 7pm. Mass of a Christian burial will be held on Thursday, December 8th at 2:30pm at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock with the interment to follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
