David Freitas, 84, of Hilmar, died Nov. 17 at Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto. Services have been held. Burial will be at North Hilmar District Cemetery.
David was born May 26, 1925, in Algarvia, Nordeste, Sao Miguel, Azores. He was a welder for 55 years and a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church of Turlock. He was also involved in Teams of Our Lady and choir at the church. He was a member of S.E.S. Council Sao Gabriel No. 18 of Stevinson. He enjoyed working in the garden, walking with his wife and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Deolinda Maria Freitas of Hilmar; sons, Antonio “Tony” Freitas and his wife, Zelia, of Hilmar, Luis Freitas and his wife, Liliana, of Stevinson; daughters, Ana Nunes and her husband, Luie, of Tracy, and Maria da Conceição Merritt and her husband, Robert, of Wilmington, Del.; brother, Horacio Freitas of San Mateo; sister, Maria Jose Medeiros of Gustine; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horacio Jose Freitas and Maria do Carmo Amaro.
