Delton Nyman, 70, of Hilmar, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home on Sunday after a long battle with cancer.
He was truly a life-long Hilmar resident, since he was born on the south side of August Avenue and passed away on the north side. He was the third generation raised on the same dairy site and was in partnership with his brother Lloyd on the dairy since the early 1970s. He attended Hilmar schools, graduating from Hilmar High School in 1958. During school he played basketball and was active in FFA. He was an Army veteran. In 1967 he met Kathy Williams through youth activities at Hilmar Covenant and they were married in 1971. He passed away on their 40th wedding anniversary.
Delton has been a supportive member of the Hilmar community. He was a member of Hilmar Covenant Church and a member of the Hilmar Cheese Company family.
Delton was preceded in death by his parents, E. Martin and Olivia Nyman; and infant brother, Leon Nyman. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Nyman and children, Brad (Kristi) Nyman and Becky Nyman, all of Hilmar; grandchildren, Emma Rose Nyman and Blake Delton Nyman; and siblings, Marge (Richard) Nystrom of Carmel, Lloyd (Judy David) Nyman of Hilmar, Loren (Linda) Nyman of Hughson and Lavonne Wingett of Denair.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Delton at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 12 at Hilmar Covenant Church.
