Donald Melvin Chronister, 79, of Merced, passed away Nov. 27 at the Anberry Rehabilitation Hospital in Atwater.
Donald was born May 1930 in Merced to Jesse and Gladys (Callahan) Chronister.
He attended the University of California, Los Angeles and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a master’s degree.
He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District for 33 years. Donald enjoyed tennis in his younger years.
He is surived by children, Marcia Dow of Colten, Calif., Eric Chronister of Riverside, Calif. and Karyn Alfonso of West Lake Village, Calif. He is also survived by three grandchildren.
