Donald Roy Gist stepped into heaven on December 22nd surrounded by his family.

Don served in the United States Navy for 20 years.  He served in Vietnam and aboard many ships seeing much of the world as he crossed the equator.  Following retirement he became a truck driver and worked for national and local companies and even owning his own truck at one point.

Don was a member of River Oaks Golf Club and he and Vivian enjoyed playing.

He enjoyed camping with his family and Don Pedro Lake was often a favorite destination.  He and Vivian were members of All Seasons RV Club.  He attended Cornerstone Covenant Church and was active with the Cornerstone Classics.

Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vivian; sons Craig and Mark (daughter-in-law Olivia) and 2 grandsons, Luke and Matthew.  He was preceded in death by his father, mother and all of his brothers and sisters.

Burial with full military honors will be January 4 at 11:30 A.M. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm Jan. 7, 2017
