Dorothy L. Hammond, 91, passed away at Paramount Court in Turlock.  She was the third of four children born in Archer County, TX, to Myla and John Mark Towles.  Her siblings were older brother Raymond, who died while piloting a plane during WWII, older sister Rena, now deceased, and younger sister Marklene, who died as a child.

When Dorothy was attending South Lockett High School in TX, she met her future husband, William H. Hammond, on a blind date.  They were married Mar. 8, 1941 in Fredrick, OK.

Dorothy has always been a strong Christian and put her faith into action with a loving spirit and giving attitude.  People were always drawn to her, most likely because of her ability to put others at ease with her down to earth demeanor and sense of humor.  She loved cooking and baking and created quite a reputation for delicious desserts.  She worked hard to create a loving home and always put family and friends first.  She will be greatly missed!

Dorothy and Bill were married for 73 years, which is quite a milestone, and they had 3 children:  son, William M. Hammond (deceased), had 3 children, Trent Hammond with first wife Darlyss, and Sara Hunter and Nathan Hammond with wife, Linda;   daughter, Sharon Carlson with husband, Paul, has 3 children, Kim Cort, Davin Carlson (deceased) and Christina Cunningham; son, Mark Hammond with wife, Patsy, has 3 children, Evan, Alex and Ross Hammond.  Ten great-grandchildren also survive.

A visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 23, at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd.  Funeral services will be conducted on Sat., Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at the same location.  Interment will follow at Turlock Memorial Park.
