Dorothy Beers, 80, of Turlock, died Feb. 24 in Turlock. 

Dorothy was a wife and homemaker for 51 years. She enjoyed spending her time as a volunteer at Emanuel Medical Center at the information desk for five years. Her favorite things were classical music, Mexican food and seafood, vacationing on the North Coast, chocolate ice cream, needlework, and the Raiders and 49ers. The reason she volunteered at Emanuel was after her husband passed, she was drawn to the hospital to help people, as she wanted to be a nurse when she was younger.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne M. Beers of Turlock and Dennis Chapman of Turlock; Chris M. Chapman of Turlock and Barbara Beers of Turlock; sister, Doris Tonelli of Turlock; grandchildren, Matt Teague, Heather Bilyeu, Kari Small, Jennifer Beers, Jamie Browning, Bria Beers and  Madison Alvares; and 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald Beers, on Nov. 9, 2002.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at Whitehurst Norton and Dias Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3 at Whitehurst, Norton and Dias Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
