Dorothy Beers, 80, of Turlock passed away on Feb. 24. She was born on Nov. 17, 1930, in Turlock and was a wife and homemaker for 51 years.
She was a volunteer at Emanuel Medical Center at the information desk for five years. The reason she volunteered at Emanuel was after her husband passed, she was drawn to the hospital to help people, as she wanted to be a nurse when she was younger. Her favorite things were classical music, Mexican and sea food, vacationing on the North Coast, chocolate ice cream, the color pink, needlework and rooting for the Raiders and 49ers.
She is survived by sons, Wayne M. Beers and Dennis Chapman, both of Turlock; daughters, Chris M. Chapman and Barbara Beers, both of Turlock; grandchildren, Matt Teague, Heather Bilyeu, Kari Small, Jennifer Beers, Jamie Browning, Bria Beers and Madison Alvares; and 10 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald Beers on Nov. 9, 2002.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel, 286 W. Main St., Turlock. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, also at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias. It will be officiated by Pastor Steven Elliot. Burial will be at Turlock Memorial Park.
