Douglas Cochneuer, of Turlock, CA was born in Blanchard, OK to Marion and Jessie Cochneuer. The family moved to California in 1937 and Douglas graduated from Tulare High School. He also studied at Modesto Junior College. It was in Modesto that Doug met a beautiful young woman, Lora Faye White, who stole his heart and they were married in 1942. Doug served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He later worked at Hume Cannery for 10 years before joining the California Highway Patrol and serving Northern California and the Bay Area as a Sergeant for 28 years. He loved to fish and he loved country music. Doug and Faye joined Steppin’ Pards square dancing. They were members of Bethel Temple and Harvest Christian Center.
Douglas was preceded in death by his wife Faye of 76 years, parents and four brothers: Don, Lon, Lew, and infant Lavern Cochneuer. He is survived by three children: Lee Wayne (Christine) Cochneuer, Steven (Lydia) Cochneuer and Lisa Joy (Greg) Adams; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Allen Mortuary Dec. 1, 2018 at 10am. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson.
