Ernie passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the age of 84 in San Ramon, CA following an extended illness.  He was born in Turlock, where he lived virtually his entire life.  After receiving an AA degree from Modesto Junior College, Ernie joined the Air Force as a cartographer during the Korean War. Ernie was a star second baseman on the Air Force champion’s baseball Team.  Declining a minor league baseball contract, Ernie began working as a lumber yard foreman at Denair Lumber Company.  During his thirty-five year career, Ernie also worked at wholesale lumberyards in Modesto.  His hobbies included growing tomatoes and hot peppers, bowling, golfing, and rooting for the 49ers.

Ernie is preceded in death by his wife of forty-two years, Shirley Badal, his brother Sam Badal, his sister Helen Lenser, and his brother Kenneth Badal.  He is survived by his son Michael Badal of Alexandria, VA, and his son David Badal, daughter-in-law Linda, and grandchildren Sara and Scott of San Ramon.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 25th at 1pm at Turlock Memorial Park.

Ernie put a smile on the face of everyone he met.  The family would like to thank the many caregivers that helped him in his later years.
