Everett James Rodrigues passed away on June 27, 2016 at the age of 92.  He was born in Snelling, CA to Antone & Elsie Rodrigues.  He was the eldest of three sons.  He graduated from Monterey High School and Modesto Jr. College.  He served in the U.S. Air Force as a Navigator/Gunner.  At that time, he was the West Coast undefeated Golden Gloves Lightweight Boxing Champion.  In 1947 he married Willie Jean Young.  In the 50’s, he was the Foreman at Pleasant Valley Ranch.  In 1959 he decided to go into business for himself as a horseshoer, and worked in that profession for over 50 years.  He was an extremely disciplined and hard-working person.  He enjoyed fishing, camping and horses.  He participated in rodeo competitions in calf roping and team roping in the 1950’s-60’s.  He was an Honorary Member of the Turlock Horsemen’s Club, serving as the President in 1979-80.  

But his greatest love was for his family.  He was a devoted and dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and made many sacrifices for his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Everett was preceded in death by his parents Antone & Elsie Rodrigues, his brother Alva Rodrigues, and sisters-in-law Joanne & Gee Gee Rodrigues.  He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Willie Jean Rodrigues; his two sons Larry (Teri) Rodrigues and Clyde (Kerri) Rodrigues; his two grandchildren Tracy Cobb and Clint Rodrigues; his three great-grandchildren Nicole, Julia & Hunter Cobb; his brother Clarence Rodrigues; several cousins, nephews and nieces.  

A Memorial Service will be held at Allen Mortuary in Turlock at 10:30 on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.
