Frances Fran Best Prusso
Dec. 23, 1916 - Feb. 7, 2014
c16856 1

Fran was born in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and passed away peacefully, into the welcoming arms of her, heavenly father, at the age of 97 in Modesto, California.

Fran was the daughter of Vernon and Luzetta Anthony Best, and granddaughter of the Coeur d’Alene Anthony-Best Family pioneers. She is preceded in death by her brother Alton Best, and sisters: Verna Swan and Helen Best Kelly.

Fran graduated high school and college, and then started a business career of 60 plus years mostly in California.  She raised a family, and later in life she settled in the Turlock area.

Fran was a loving and generous mother, grandmother and great-grand mother. As a free spirited, independent woman, Fran was always up to an adventure.   There were spontaneous secret road-trips with the grandkids, and travels to Europe and the Holy land. She was lovingly referred to as “Grandma Flash” as she zipped around in her beloved blue VW. Fran was friendly to everyone, and enjoyed music- especially opera, singing with the family and at church. She was a lifelong avid reader of western novels and often described reading as “vivid movies running in her head.”

She is survived locally by her daughter Carol and her husband Tony Dutra; grandchildren: Susan Gallo, Sharon Dutra, Mark (Lillian) Dutra; great-grandchildren: Alicia and Tristan Gallo, Allison and Michael Dutra.

A special thank you is extended to the Staff at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Care Center of Modesto for Frances’ care during her residency.

Remembrances in Fran’s name may be made to her favorite Charity:  St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
