George Lucas, 85, of Ceres, passed away at Memorial Medical Center on July 19. He was born in Oklahoma in 1925 to Samuel and Sallie Lucas. His family moved to California when he was very young. He graduated from high school, married his lifelong companion, Lola Mae, and worked for 39 years as a refrigeration engineer at Merchants Refrigeration plant in Modesto.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Lucas of Modesto; brother, Winfred Lucas of Waterford; grandchildren, Tommy Lee Buckhanan of Ceres, April Sunshine Lucas of Modesto; and great-grandson, Skyler L. Buckhanan of Ceres. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lola Mae; parents, Samuel and Sallie; daughter, Arlana “Gaylene” Lucas; son, David Sheldon Lucas; brothers, James Wesley Lucas and Paul Dean Lucas; sister, Audrey Heflin; and granddaughter, Jennifer Nettie Mae Page.
A graveside service will be held for George and his wife at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 30 at San Joaquin Valley National (Military) Cemetery in Santa Nella. Please leave memories and condolences at www.allenmortuary.com.
