George Silva was born on June 27, 1953 in Turlock, California. He passed away on December 21, 2020 in Modesto, California, at the age of 67.

George was born and raised in Turlock on a small dairy off of Fulkerth road.  He attended Mt. View School, Turlock High School and Modesto Junior College.

Early on George realized the hardship of dairy life and decided to branch out and try something new. In his early 20s, he began delivering eggs for Adrian Enos and then moved on to working for Nordic in Turlock. But his real passion was to start his own business. He started a custom farming business in the 1970s for his neighbors in the Mt. View area. For more than forty years he served the Mt. View area – an accomplishment attributed to his hard work, easy going attitude and dedicated employees. His love of equipment, chopping, and watching the crops grow fueled his passion – the latest neighborhood gossip also kept things interesting.

When George wasn’t working, he was spending time with his other passion, his family. George married his wife Kathy, which he often called his “one and only,” at Sacred Heart Church in Turlock. They recently celebrated 38 years of marriage.  George worked hard and made many sacrifices to be a loving husband to Kathy and father to his daughter Kristine. His grandson Jack was the apple of his eye. Papa loved to show him tractors and trucks and both could never get enough of each other. Although George’s main hobbies were work and his family, he would occasionally step away from work to spend time at Pismo Beach.

George will be deeply missed by his family and the agriculture community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antone and Maria Silva, and brother, Joe Silva.

George is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Kristine (Brandon) Rebiero, sister Mary (Clarence) Rocha, sister Filomena (Michael) Heilman, niece Shawna (William) Oliveira, niece Melissa Rocha, niece Julie Silva, and grandson Jack Rebiero.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Valley Children’s Hospital of Madera at 9300 Valley Children’s Place, Madera, CA 93636.
