Private services were held for Gerald Bishop, 85, of Grass Valley, Calif. Inurnment will be at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine. He passed away on Tuesday at Memorial Medical Center.
He was born in Baxter, Iowa to Morris and Dolly Bishop in 1924. Right out of high school, Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W. II. He was in the Marine Corps reserves until 1950, when he was called back to duty during the Korean War. He started an apprenticeship as a sheet metal worker after W.W. II and worked as a journeyman sheet metal worker for over 40 years in the San Jose area. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 104 Union. Gerald retired, and in 1985, settled in Grass Valley, Calif. Gerald enjoyed working outdoors.  
Gerald is survived by his son, Rex (Bonnie) Bishop of Turlock; brother, Eugene Bishop of Michigan; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ada Bishop; daughter, Aletha Gilliland; and one brother.
