Gerald was born in Irwin City, CA and had lived in Hilmar for 92 years before moving to Turlock two years ago. He worked most of his life as a farmer in the Hilmar area. In addition to being a farmer he worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Lake Tahoe and drove bus for Patchetts. He volunteered his time as a camp director for Merced County 4-H, was a past member of Hilmar Fire Department, the Hilmar Historical Society and was citizen of the year in Hilmar. He was a member of Berea Lutheran Church and was a man of faith. Gerald spent time volunteering his musical talents of singing and playing the trombone at Brandel Manor, Berea Lutheran Church, community gatherings and other various assisted living facilities.
Gerald is survived by his daughter Llyn (Phillip) Souza; siblings Barbara Strom and Glenn Lundell; grandchildren Kathy (Dave) Rose, Kristen (Jeff) Lewis, Brent (Teresa) Souza, Karen (Duarte) Vitorino and Phil Souza; great grandchildren Joseph and Angeline Rose; Dustin and Brandon Lewis and Alexander, Ryan, Meghan and Brent Souza. He is preceded in death by his wife Freda Lundell; parents Henry and Lydia Lundell and brother Kenneth Lundell.
Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Berea Lutheran Church 20019 Bloss Ave Hilmar, CA 95324. Graveside service will be held at North Hilmar Cemetery on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial service will follow at Berea Lutheran Church on Thursday, January 12th at 12:00p.m.  Please share your memories at www.allenmortuary.com.
