Germano Bettencourt, 84, of Hilmar, died Oct. 30 in Turlock.

Germano was born in 1925 in Norte Grande, Sao Jorge, Azores. He was a dairyman for 60 years and a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Hilmar. He lived in Hilmar the last three years and before that he lived in Newman. He loved making wine.

He is survived by his son, Vasco S. Bettencourt and his wife, Rosemary, of Hilmar; brother, Joao  Bettencourt of Oakley; sister, Natalia Dias of Denair; grandchildren, Danny Bettencourt of Tracy, Christina Bettencourt of Hilmar and Melissa Bettencourt of Oceanside; and great grandchildren,  Evan  Bettencourt and Layla Bettencourt of Tracy.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26 at Whitehurst, Norton & Dias Funeral Chapel. Rosary will be held 7 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 26 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 20263 American Ave., Hilmar. A Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 27 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Burial will be at North Hilmar District Cemetery.
