Gregory Lee Schaefer (Greg), age 56, died on Thursday, November 8, 2018. He was born in Folsom, California on October 2, 1962. His family moved to Modesto when he was an infant. He was employed in Modesto at Industrial Electrical Company as a machinist for the past 35 years. He loved working there and loved the people he worked with. In 1984 he met the love of his life, Patty. He became an instant father to her 3 children-Junior, Cissy, and Jason. He loved being a husband, a father, and provider for his family. As a family they spent time traveling. He was a little league baseball and football coach for about 15 years in Ceres. Greg did not know a stranger. He would help anyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Roxanne Schaefer. He leaves behind his loving wife of 29 years, Patty and his children, Junior and Ria Schaefer of Modesto, Cissy and Kenny Karp of Riverbank, and Jason Schaefer of Denair. Greg was proud to be Papa and he will fondly be remembered by his seven grandchildren, Gracie, Daniel, Kyle, Andrew, Abigail, Levi, and Kayden. He is also survived by his sisters, Dena(Don) of Fruit Heights, Utah and Becky (Jim) of Modesto and brother, Cliff(CaraMia) of Merced. He will be dearly missed by many inlaws, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life for Greg will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 10:00a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1105 Orangeburg Avenue Modesto, CA.
Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Greg to the Victim Advocacy Center Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.
